Organizations are expected to implement the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by 25 May 2018. The GDPR harmonizes data privacy laws across all member states of the European Union, with the goal to protect and empower all EU citizens’ data privacy and is relevant for any person or entity that processes the personal data of EU residents. The purpose of this cross-community session is to explore the impact of the GDPR on the domain name industry and its users. A moderated discussion on the following 3 topics will take place: 1. introduction on the GDPR and its impact on the business 2. How the GDPR affects registrants, and services by registries and registrars: looking for practical solutions 3. Potential impact on current ICANN-related work
